Presentation of “Personal Philanthropy Profiles in Spain” Report
On September 29th, IE Center for Families in Business presented the report entitled “Profiles of Personal Philanthropy in Spain”.
At the Center, we give priority to researching, developing and disseminating the differential aspects of business families, putting in value their contribution to society, for example, through philanthropic projects. On this occasion, CaixaBank Banca Privada, as part of its Proyecto Valor Social (ENG: Social Value Project), trusted us to conduct this study with the aim of bringing the figure of the great donor to society in general and highlighting their contribution.
“Philanthropic action is a key part of the identity of many business families, who are often deeply committed to their community and to society in general”. However, the figure of the philanthropist in Spain is still little known and has a long way to go.

Carlos Mas, President of IE Center for Families in Business
The study was conducted by Dr Cristina Cruz, Academic Director of the Center and Dr Rachida Justo, Director of the Entrepreneurship Department at IE University. To carry out the study, it was made a qualitative analysis out of more than 50 hours of individual interviews with a group of philanthropists, with members of the management team of some foundations promoted by individual philanthropists, as well as with experts in philanthropy, all of them are references in this field.
From the Center, we would like to thank the philanthropists, and experts and managers of foundations, for their collaboration on the report through the many interviews they have given to the authors, sharing their experiences and knowledge in the field of philanthropy.
